Things are a bit slow in my gardening world right now so I thought I would post a flower a day for a bit, all from last summer's garden................starting with red. It rained most of the day today, we have gotten over an inch since this morning. The ground is still frozen, the frost is really deep this year, so the water runs off. So it was a day of candle making and cooking for me. And reading, I am reading a really good book, Serena by Ron Rash, it is historical fiction, probably my favorite category. It is about the logging industry out east during the depression.

Rosie
This is my sweet Rosie using Quasi Boy as a pillow.
I noticed yesterday that even though the temps were in the teens the sun felt really warm! So spring must be close at hand.
If you have some free time check out the above sight, it is a place to buy various homemade things, very awesome sight. Moss terrariums are popular right now, they offer several for sale. I decided this weekend to make my own, I used a glass jar that I have, put in a layer of rock, a layer of charcoal, and a slight layer of potting soil, then went out in the yard with a knife and cut some patches of moss that looked a bit green, I will keep you posted on how it or if it greens up. I also had some time this weekend to try making homemade marshmallows, they turned out wonderful! What fun.

Amaryllis
Each winter I usually buy an amaryllis because they add a nice splash of color during a time when things are mostly white. I do not try to save them from year to year, having tried it several times without any luck, I just toss the bulb when it is done blooming, in fact this one is already gone but it sure was a pretty one.
We missed the ice storm this week but yesterday, we had a thunderstorm complete with thunder, lightning and darkened skies, and a bit of hail tossed in for good measure.

Pretty Sky
I took the second picture with my new camera, I have not had much time to play with it but am getting the hang of it. I have been baking as you can see in the first photo. I am going to try homemade marshmallows this weekend, something I have always wanted to try.
See the two squirrel nests in the sky picture? They must have been good buddys.

Wardian Case
When we went to Reiman Gardens in December they had a few Wardian Cases planted and on display, I fell in love with them, so I did some looking around online and found one that I liked. I finished planting mine this past week, the first photo is mine, the second photo is one at Reimans. I would love to do a carnivorous plant display in the case but that will have to wait until it warms up so I can order the plants.
