This is a plant that is not supposed to grow in my garden zone, but I have had it in my garden for years, it self sows, it is a biennial, the first year it is only about an inch tall, thin feathery type leaves, I have to be careful not to hoe up the seedlings, the second year it gets about 6 feet tall and blooms. At one time I had yellow ones also but have not seen a yellow bloom in years.

I like the brilliant red color of the flowers. It looks like there are lots more buds, which means you'll be getting more flowers.

Thanks for introducing me to standing cypress. It should be great for hummingbirds. I must add some to my garden. I love tall vertical plants.

I've never heard of that plant. It sounds interesting. I'll have to see about finding it. How wide does it get when it's blooming?
