My asters have started blooming, I like asters better than mums, mostly because they seem to like me better than mums, asters come back year after year, mums come back once in awhile. Asters are a bit more "common" than the flashy mums but I like that better.

When we bought our mums this year, we talked with the garden center sales clerk. She remarked how mums used to be "hardy". Growers now do whatever it is they do to create a multitude of colors, which has weakened the mums. Your aster bloom is pretty.
I love asters too.
Lovely aster. I love the native asters especially. Ohio is now covered in purple (asters) mauve (Joe Pye weed) and all sorts of yellow.

What a pretty little Aster. They are not fussy, and a tough little workhorse in the garden.
They grow wild around here and I just can't imagine September without them! Very pretty.
