Camera Critter Saturday

Posted by Picasa

I have been planting herbs to attract Black Swallowtail Butterflies for 3 years, the first 2 years, I was successful, last year I did not have any for some reason, keeping my fingers crossed for next year.
They like fennel and parsley.

Beautiful cats. They're about as beautiful in that stage as they are as butterflies.

Good shot of the swallowtail cat.
I always throw some dill seed in the perennial gardens to host these butterflies. Many of the caterpillars get eaten before they have a chance to crawl away.

I found you at Dragonfly Corner. Your Blog name interested me because I love gardening too. Your photos are wonderful, so sharp, and your subject matter is great. I love flowers and critters also. It seems we have a few things in common.

I had more fennel and parsley than usual for the caterpillars last year, and only saw one. I think the birds and wasps may have gotten them. I have some white flowers the wasps love, and I'm wondering if I should give them up so that they won't come around as much. I love the white flowers, though, and it would be hard to give them up.
