Sue, they seemed very happy, they have a very large enclosure, both inside and outside. In perfect world he would be free, but this is not a perfect world, now is it? Far from it, actually. Since they are being killed in the wild, I am glad to see that there are some in captivity in good clean healthy zoos for the our young people to see and by seeing, wanting to protect them, both in captivity and in the wild.
The other day, you asked where I got my profile pic... I'm so sorry it's taken so long to answer - I meant to the other day & forgot! LoL! I can't remember where I got it, but I can email it to you if you'd like?! I just love how spring-y it looks with all the colors! I'm sooo IMPATIENTLY waiting for spring
I've been to the Henry Doorley. It's a wonderful zoo. I grew up around there and as a kid, i dreamed of working there when i grew up. I wish i had followed my dream.

I like going to the zoo. Nice pictures of the gorilla.
Great shots of the Gorilla!
GREAT shots!
Great capture of the gorilla, and the expression is what I like!
These are awesome!
I love the second one.
Mine’s here: Round The Bend.
Sad though that he has to live in a zoo ... Hope he's happier than that face suggests.

Such a handsome guy. Great photos.
What a neat Silver-back. He is king of that area.
Beautiful shots! Love going to the zoo. Ruth's dad is from Woodbine, IA.
Darryl and Ruth : )
I'm presuming you had a zoom lens. That closeup is absolutely fantastic.
Wow, those look so much like peoples!
Kathy, I had a 200 mm zoon lens, but it was cropping that makes it seem so close, photo software is a wonderful thing.
We were there last summer, it is a wonderful zoo. Great pics!
Both your flower photo and your gorilla photos are amazing! And yes, our ladies do know how to celebrate ;o)
Great captures, he is a magnificent creature. I agree totally with the comment you left for Sue. I'm glad to hear they have a good life.
Great shot of the Gorilla relaxing in the sun - so laid back.
Beautiful critter!
