The Monarch Butterflies were passing through this week by the hundreds. I had planted a butterfly bush this past spring, they are not hardy to my zone 4 garden but it sure attracted the butterflies! I doubt it will winter over for me but I have decided I will plant more next spring and treat them as annuals if I must, as it is worth to see all the butterflies!

Gorgeous shots of the butterflies.
Darryl and Ruth : )
There has been an abundance of butterflies this year. Your butterfly bush "should" winter well and come back twice as big in the spring.
Awesome colors! Great captures!!

Beautiful shots of the monarch on the Buddleia blossoms!!
Beautiful shots of the Monarch butterfly! I love the butterfly bushes.
This year, I grew several butterfly bushes (got them on special) even though it is doubtful they will survive through the MN winter. Two of them are in deep pots and they flowered and got bigger than any of the others. I will probably plant them in the garden yet this fall, just to see if they can survive, but even if they don't, it was worth it to have all the butterflies and the gorgeous blooms.
Gorgeous photos!! We don't have monarchs here, so I enjoy seeing them on other people's flowers.
Beautiful pictures. I've planted a few BB bushes and sometimes they just have a hard time making it thru our weird weather.
This side of your blog has amazing photos. They really attract the viewer for a while ;-)
Thank you for your friendly comment on my blog!
What a wonderful thing to do for the butterflies! Monarchs are so pretty.
