Monarch Photo Taken Last Summer

I had never planted Butterfly Bushes before as they are not hardy to my zone 4 garden but I did put one in last summer on the south side of the house in a protected area, I had scads of butterflies on it!  So this year I am planting more and if I have to treat them as annuals I will just to attract the butterflies.

That picture is beautiful! Butterflies are just so pretty. I am glad you had good luck with the butterfly bush.

That's a wonderful photo! The buddleia are a little marginal here in z5a too, but it seems that if you can get them through the first 2 winters, they'll be okay, even if the plant dies back to the ground. Good luck with them!

Lovely photo hopefully your buddleia will make it thru.

Beautiful photo...my 'butterfly' bushes die backquite a bit, but they send out new growth each spring. Good luck with yours, they do attract the butterflies and hummingbird moths.

I do hope your buddleia survived the winter. It's amazing how many butterflies will come to the blooms, and it's always such a pleasure to see them.

Lovely photo.

They are so beautiful and delicate. I try to feed all stages.
Plant parsley if you want the black swallowtail in abundance. I discovered that last year when they filled my hanging basket where I was growing parsley with their colorful caterpillars.

Very nice shot! I have never planted butterfly bushes, somebody would just mow over them anyway :( I hope yours actually made it through, if not, plant again!

Have a great day!

I never put them in much, they didn't come back when I did. Here I have a milder climate perhaps, and like you put them in a better location.

Motyl jest śliczny. Ja próbowałam też robić zdjęcie motyla siedzącego na mojej budleji, ale niestety robiłam to aparatem telefonicznym i nie wyszło zbyt ciekawie.Pozdrawiam

I have 8 butterfly bushes. They are on the north side of the house, so waiting to see if they survive the harsh winter. 4 of them wintered just fine last year, but this winter was much colder. They do bring in the butterflies, and the hummingbirds. The yellow one is my favorite bush. I hope yours survived.
