Another Old Rose

This one reminds me of the wild roses that you can still occasionally find here in Iowa, it is our state flower. But this rose has a bigger and pinker flower. I am sure the wild rose is part of its heritage.

It does look like a wild rose, doesn't it! They're blooming in the ditchs now and I love driving by them. Have you noticed - there's lightening bugs out already!

Sally, I noticed lightning bugs last night for the first time! I love looking out over the yard with the lightning bugs all about. I also started hearing crickets last Monday night.

You're bringing back alot of memories of my childhood. I used to live way out in the country, next to a little stream. There would be plenty of lightning bugs or fireflies once it got warm.

Summer is definitely upon us.

Beautiful roses! What a great color. Your photos are very nice. I grew up in Iowa, and I love seeing wild roses blooming along trails etc here.

Fireflies... but no cicadas! They are the ones that tell me the HOT summer is here to stay.

Absolutely exquisite photographs, IGW! I love roses and these ones look superb. Do they also have a fragrance? They look as if they might.
