Heat Wave, Lantana, Blue Sky

It is a good day to stay inside, I spent over an hour early this morning watering everything that the hose could reach. When I was finished, the dogs and the cat were all laying in front of the door as if to say, hurry up and let us in. I took a few pictures for the Sunday Blooms. I liked the way these turned out. Nothing is prettier than blue sky. The last photo is marigolds, the others are Lantana, I am sure people in the south will wonder why I grow Lantana at all as I have heard it is weed like in the south. I grow it as a pot plant because it will not survive Iowa's winters.

I especially love your lantana pictures--that plant really takes me back to my childhood in Florida. I think it was growing everywhere there! Does it get little black or red seedballs in it when it matures?

Thanks Deemom!

Yes it gets the seedballs as it matures Lostroses, I usually cut them off in the green stage so it continues to bloom, I have heard that Lantana can be a pest in the south, I love the way the same bloom has several different shades of the same color on it.

I came over from Kris' Gardens on the Lake blog because of your hydrangea photo on your profile, having just taken a photo of some yesterday, and saw the lantana photos, which I also photographed. I didn't know what they were, so thanks!

Lovely photos.

I love lantana ... the colours now are wonderful. I have the same problem with the weather so it is never a problem here.

I've never grown lantana - but your photos are so pretty I may have to try them next year!
