The Days of Weird Mushrooms

With 10 inches of rain in 7 days, mushrooms are popping up all over, I have noticed some people's yards look like they are covered with mushroom lawn ornaments. I also noticed today that my hybrid tea roses are loaded with buds, I hope they get to bloom before our first frost.

I did not notice the caterpillar on the first photo until I was cropping it in PSP.

The weekend has once again flown by, where does the time go??? Back to work tomorrow. But it will be a short week for me as I am taking Friday off, which will give me a four day weekend........yeah! I think we are going to go to Reiman Gardens, I say I think because we have had plans to go there about 3 times over the summer and something has happened each time and we were unable to go, hopefully this time. I love going there, the gardens and the butterfly house, does wonders for my karma, ya know what I mean??? :)

It is funny to see the mushrooms popping up all over, isn't it? It always looks to me like the Martians have landed overnight!

Oh, you're taking Friday off for a four day weekend? What a good idea, thanks for reminding me. I'll have to see if I can swing that at work!

What strange fungi! Some of them look downright nasty, but others are quite nice. Happy GTS!

Cool 'shrooms! I'm seeing quite a few in my lawn and gardens too - but I think you have a better selection.
I always say that being at the Minn Landscape Arboretum is good for my soul - very much like being good for your karma!

Here in my place too mushrooms are popping up everywhere, probably b'coz of high heat and humidity.
Nice closeup shots!!

Neat mushrooms! I photographed an orange one last week, but haven't posted anything about it yet.

I hope you post photos of Reiman Gardens - I went to school in Ames, but haven't been back since that garden was created. The horticulture garden at ISU was a pathetic and pitiful thing during my time there - an afterthought stuck behind the physical plant if I remember correctly.

I love your assortment of mushrooms. Some of them are truly bizarre! I get you on the karma thing ...

And good for you taking off an extra day and having a four-day weekend.

WOW! Cool looking mushrooms. There aren't any here! We've had less than 1/2 inch of rain this month.

Amazing, yes you guys ARE getting a lot of rain, we've been really dry this year and I've only seen one or two small toadstools all summer. I love that first photograph.

Wow, a passel of cool mushrooms. No morels though. I have fond memories and fonder tastebuds hunting and eating morels found in those Iowa woods - what woods you have.
