Roses and Clematis

Last summer I planted a clematis vine at the base of a Linda Campbell shrub rose, it has been wonderfully successful! The Clematis has vined all over the rose, it is beautiful. I planted a white clematis at the base of a pink shrub rose this summer.

Isn't that stunning! I've read that Clematis and roses were companion plants. I can't wait to see the white Clematis and pink rose together. I haven't had great luck with my white Clematis - the bugs are really attracted to it.

Such a lovely idea. I am not too great on growing clematis myself. Your photo shows two very healthy and colourful looking plants. x

My purple Clematis and white shrub roses are all clumped up together (planted by the previous owners). They look great together!

Except that the Japanese Beetles like both plants and are doing quite a number on them :(

I love clematis blooms. Mine was pretty generous with blooms this year - I am hoping to get it to really climb and make a great show!

I have tried planting the clematis with the rose bush and have moderate success. This year was the 2nd year for one of the combinations and was ok. I wish they would have bloomed at the same time. Maybe next year. Yours is wonderful!!
