I have no idea what that flower is but it is spectacular! Iowa has some gorgeous flowers.
It is a salvia, which is not blooming right now but later in the summer. It is an annual.
so vibrant :)
Salvia grows well here in our deserts but I don't think I've ever seen one that is such a fire engine red color. Beautiful!
