Rainbow Swiss Chard

Posted by Picasa

I had always wanted to try growing this, finally did this year, it is pretty, don't you think?  I did not eat any as I don't like swiss chard but have enjoyed seeing it in the garden and will grow it again.

I love this chard, we grow it here and let it go to seed so we have it all over the place as an ornamental and an edible. In fact we are having some for dinner tonight. It is one of the most beautiful and nutritious foods we grow. Your photos show the beauty of it very well.

My neighbor breads the leaf and has a special board to cook it so to keep it flat when she puts it in the oil. They were some of the 1st I knew who ate lots of it.Like the colors of this, have grown it before.

Yeah, to me - it's a lot prettier than it tastes.

Wow you chard looks great! Very hard for us the grow it gets so hot here in the summer. One of my favorite foods you are missing out! Try cooking in with olive oil, garlic and ginger, then just as it is cooked add soy sauce.

It is pretty enough to grow without having to eat it. I admit it is an acquired taste. I love it - my husband's not so keen!
