Blue Skies of Reiman Gardens
More photos of Reiman Gardens last August.
I left work early to drive up to see my Dad who is back in the hospital again, I fear the end is near, he is in kidney failure, he seems so agitated and in pain, I asked the nurse if they couldn't do more to help that and she is going to talk to the doctor, my Mother is going to talk to him as well tomorrow AM. I have never been through anything like this in my life so I have no experience to draw on but it sure seems he could be made more comfortable, they are not allowing him to have much to drink either because of the kidney failure, I don't understand that either.

Reiman's Butterfly House
We went to Reiman Gardens and Butterfly House last August, I did not get to post many pictures because I was too busy posting my own flower pics so I thought this would be a good time to post the butterflies. They had to close the butterfly house down until April 1st this year because of lack of funding, what a disappointment that is to me. I wanted to get there last month for my birthday but that did not happen, they always have such a beautiful Christmas display in the conservatory as well as the lights in the outside gardens. I love going to Reiman! Last year we went in Febuary, what a treat that was to have the weather below freezing and be in the tropics with butterflies flying around.
It is another foggy night here in Iowa, I saw lightning when I first got up this AM! In January!

Gazing Balls, Cold Weather and Other Things

I love gazing balls, I know they are not really garden art but to me they are :). The past couple of years I have been buying the steel ones so they don't break, this past fall I grouped a few of them together and placed them outside the window by my computer, when December 1st rolled around I put some lights on them so I could see the snow reflecting in the balls along with the lights. I have many more all over my yard, I love the way you can see the sky, flowers, grass in the gazing balls.
Now that the Christmas rush is over I have been cleaning up the hard drive of my computer, I really would like a new computer and in fact even built one on Dell's web site but this one is not really that old and I have several external hard drives for my pictures and music, so there really is no reason to buy one, so I have been moving files from the C drive on this computer to external hard drives for storage, I am up to over half of my C drive free now which was my goal so I can start the new year with a nice clean computer :). I have many other projects to start as well, but at least I can cross one off of my list.
Quasi-Boy does not like the snow at all, his idea of playing in the snow is standing by the back waiting for someone to open the door for him. I am including some pictures of the other critters as well since there is not much in bloom in the garden currently.
With the hoar frost we had last week, it was a wonderful picture taking opportunity but I was at work during most of it, but I did get a few pictures.

Happy New Year's 2008

2008 it almost here, I wonder if I will be able to stay awake to see the new year in..........doubtful :).
As seed catalogs arrive earlier and earlier each year I stack them up until after the first of year, three more arrived today, but after tomorrow I can start browsing, YEAH! Spring is just around the corner, right???? Select Seeds arrived today, it is my favorite catalog so I may have to look at that one tomorrow. We have a very quiet day planned, I am going to watch the Rose Parade start to finish on HGTV as they air it without commercials.
Have a happy and safe new year, I feel 2008 is going to bring some changes in my life.
