A Trip to a Local Nursery
Every spring I go to a local nursery to buy plants and take some pictures. I usually go early in the morning so I have all the greenhouses to myself. This year I did not make it early in the day so the place was busy which is not good for taking pictures. I was shocked at their prices this year, but then I am being shocked almost daily with the way prices are going up.

Sweet Lilacs and Sweet Woodruff
The lilacs are all in bloom and it smells wonderful. I can tell the air is more humid this evening because the scent is even stronger.

Pretty Pretty
I hate to say this but my ground is dry, we have very sandy soil which dries out quickly..............I would not mind having a little shower, shhhhhhhhhh, don't tell the Iowa farmers I said that as they are behind planting their crops. They are eager to grow king corn so we can burn it in our vehicles instead of putting food on the world's table.

Finally out in the Boat!
We finally had a decent day to get out on the water for a little while. Sadly, no fish were caught. But it was fun getting out and enjoying some sun. I noticed several warblers, an indigo bunting, a king fisher along with lots of Baltimore orioles and the usual birds.

More Blooming Sunday
If anyone happens to know what kind of tree the 3rd photo is, let me know. It is a wild tree growing along the lake where we walk the dogs.
Sunday Blooming Sunday
Things are finally starting to perk up, I can tell by my aching bod :). It was a beautiful day today. I spent most of the day outside.
I can't beleive the price of bedding plants this year, well, actually I can, given the price of gas. I did not buy as many as I usually do.

Wild Plum Blossoms
Wild plum trees are in bloom in this part of Iowa currently, they have the most wonderful scent that you can imagine! The fruit they produce is small, but the birds seem to enjoy the fruits.

Reiman Butterflies
I took these pictures when we went to Reiman Gardens a few weeks ago. I would go to the Butterfly House every week if possible.
We had another miserable weekend. I planted bedding plants and some new perennials Saturday in the rain, good for transplanting I guess but I froze my heine off. Yesterday the sun did come out about 2 but there was a north wind that made it feel much colder, I planted several herb plants and cleaned off my herb bed so I did get quite a bit done this weekend.

Been a long stressful work week, one of those weeks where each day I can not wait to get home, but tomorrow is Friday, yeah!
